On 6 September 2026, which is Father's Day in Australia, my son Magnús and I will be participating in a special fathers-and-sons panel at the Eumundi Writers Festival on the Sunshine Coast, to discuss my recent memoir Running with Pirates, which is partly about raising sons and communication between children and parents.
On stage with us will be author Simon Cleary and his son Dominic, talking about Simon's book Everything is Water, which charts a remarkable walk that Simon, his son, and other friends and colleagues completed along the entirety of the Brisbane River.
