Of Badlands

A story about a recent journey I took to the Badlands in South Dakota has been published in Escape as "A place carved out by time".

As the title suggests, I try to join my experiences there along the theme of carved rock: the Badlands, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial, the gold prospecting of the nineteenth century, and an excavation site of mammoth bones are each instances of a history in formation, and of a long past of geology, conflict, and adaption.

An online version of the article is available here.
