The piece describes the start of an attempt to test, or at least think about, something my father once said to me - that my family was descended from the saga author Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241) - and so follows a track to Snorri's farm Reykholt and also to the site of a work often ascribed to Snorri, Egil's Saga.
